Trip to WDW - Day 2 Animal Kingdom (Part 2)- Thu 9th Dec 2010

After lunch it was almost time for the Jingle Jangle Jungle parade, so we found a spot outside Mombasa Marketplace and waited, we noticed that one of the cast members was from Manzini in Swaziland where Celia lived growing up, so a quick chat and convincing him that Celia really did live in Manzini. The parade was just the same as the normal Animal Kingdom parade but with some decorations on the floats and some christmas music. But I love a parade so was still glad we watched.

After the parade had passed off to Discovery Island, we grabbed a quick photo with Kevin from Manzini and heading off to see the Gorilla's on the Pangani Forest trail.

We loved this gorilla who had a blanket as who wants to sit directly on the ground.

Even when an Alpha male came passed and (s)he had to move it took the blanket with it.

We finished the trail just as the parade got back to Harambe, but managed to avoid it and used some of the side paths to get back via Asia to Discovery Island and then onto Dinoland for our showing of Finding Nemo, which is just about the best show in Orlando. Having seen Lion King & Avenue Q in the London West End the use of the puppets but the actor performing is not a new phenomena but is the best way of having fish be the main characters in a stage show.

After the show, and a quick T shirt purchase, we headed for the exit as this was one of the few days that we could get to Fantasmic and wanted to try to get this done today.

We drove quickly to Hollywood studios and made to to the Fantasmic theater to be told that it was standing room only, and the only standing room was of the far left hand side of the arena. I started to erm and arrr but Celia stated that we were here now and what was the harm. The standing was a strange view as it was possible to see how some of the tricks are done but still it is a great show and we consoled ourselves that we could try and get back here at a later date and actually sit down next time.

After the show we left via Tower of Terror and tried to walk down Sunset Boulevard which was easier said than done as the queue for the 2nd showing of Fantasmic was already most of the way down the road, so making it difficult to the exiting crowd to make our way down the road. In fact Celia was hit by an ECV as it was being driven! not by the rider but by someone walking alongside, so it was only moving in a stuttering fashion.

I grabbed a blue cupcake from Sweet Spells to quell the hunger and we wandered some of the shops as we had arranged to view the Osborne lights with my Dad and Shelley the following week.

We left the park and heading back to the Staybridge, via the Winn-Dixie supermarket across the road, where we grabbed some tinned soup and bread for dinner.

After dinner, we set alarms for tomorrow's shopping day.
